I know as entrepreneurs we often put ourselves last and can suffer from burnout. We are so busy in our business serving our clients that we forget about serving ourselves. I highly recommend you don’t do this. When you’re on an airplane they always say apply the oxygen mask to yourself first before helping others, this applies in business. Remember to give yourself some breathing space and take some time out, if you burn out you won’t be able to serve your clients, and you don’t want that!
Here are my tips:
1. Give yourself the permission to say “No”.
I know what it is like to be a people pleaser, to always want to help your clients, but sometimes you just need to say no. You don’t always have to help every person that comes your way. Follow your gut, if it is saying no; then you have permission to let the person know at this stage you are fully booked and can’t do xyz.
2. Eat regularly
Make sure you eat regularly and eat healthy nourishing foods. It is no good at all if you forget to eat and then your energy levels drop and you end up with brain fog. Remember to eat regularly even if you just have a protein smoothie to get you through the day. You don’t want to become “hangry”. 🙂
3. Meditate
I know meditation isn’t for everyone but on the days I practise a morning meditation, these are the days I feel more at peace and in control. I use a guided meditation from the Female Entrepreneur Association but you can find a heap on youtube. I find it really helps me to focus and be present ready for the day.
4. Take time out
I highly recommend taking one day off a week. This allows you to re-charge and rest so that when you return to work you can give your business and clients your best. Of course if you can take off more days then do it! But try to aim for one day a week.
5. Accept Help
You don’t have to do it all on your own. Looking to uplevel in your business, or need a boost? Why not hire a business coach or business strategist. Struggling to stay on top of social media, your newsletters or your blogs? Hire an assistant or us :), to help you out. You will be surprised how having someone support you in your business really does help! I don’t do it all on my own, I have a coach and 2 assistants, so you don’t need to either.
I hope these tips might help, and I would love to hear what you do for self care in your business. Let me know in the comments below.
